Lenskart set to unveil AI-powered smart glasses by December

Eyewear brand Lenskart is preparing to launch its first pair of AI-powered smart glasses by the end of December, signalling its move towards becoming a technology-driven lifestyle brand, according to people familiar with the matter.

Internally named “B by Lenskart Smartglasses”, the device is expected to feature AI-based interactions, health and wellness insights, and UPI payment functions. It is built on Gemini 2.5 and may debut in the weeks following the company’s stock market listing on November 10. The final pricing is yet to be decided.

“The smart glass aims to bring AI and commerce into the eyewear experience, where your glasses are not just for vision but also interaction and convenience,” said one of the people cited earlier.

The device is believed to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 platform, which is designed for lightweight augmented reality and AI-enabled camera applications. This aligns with the strategic partnership between Lenskart and Qualcomm announced at the Snapdragon for India XR Day in July 2025, where both companies revealed plans to co-develop AR and AI solutions for Indian consumers.

Lenskart Solutions launched a public offer on October 31 to raise Rs 7,278 crore at a valuation of nearly Rs 70,000 crore (USD 8 billion). The public issue, which was fully subscribed on the first day, will close on November 4.

Over the past year, the company has invested in several AI, XR, and computer vision startups to strengthen its in-house technology expertise as it expands beyond traditional eyewear retail. This move is part of its wider plan to evolve from a direct-to-consumer optics business into a comprehensive vision technology ecosystem brand.

If the launch succeeds, Lenskart will become one of the first Indian consumer technology companies to commercialise AI-integrated eyewear. The product will compete with Meta-Ray-Ban Smart Glasses and Amazon Echo Frames, offering a design and price better suited to Indian users, according to sources.
