An early flight test marked a key step for a new aviation venture led by Eternal CEO Deepinder Goyal, even as the prototype faced known technical limits.
Goyal said his aviation startup LAT Aerospace has successfully demonstrated ultra short take off uSTOL capabilities using its Lat One v0.1 prototype. He shared a video of the test flight in a post on LinkedIn. The aircraft later crashed due to structural issues that were already identified during development.
Goyal described the test as part of a larger learning process and an important milestone in the company’s iterative approach. He wrote, “We are already building Lat One v0.2, which should hopefully complete a mission. Making a plane take off is only 20% of the problem. Making it land safely is where the work lies. Overall, we learnt so much from this entire experience. We will come out better and stronger from this.”
Earlier, on November 13, Goyal had said that LAT’s electric unmanned aerial vehicle was close to being ready for a test flight. The aircraft is expected to have a flight range of 60 minutes and may be capable of operating between Mumbai and Pune.
LAT Aerospace was cofounded in early 2025 by Goyal and Surobhi Das. Das previously served as chief operating officer at Zomato and exited the company in November 2023. Goyal has invested $20 million in the startup. A newspaper first reported this development on March 12.
The Delhi based startup plans to develop 8 seater, low cost, short takeoff and landing aircraft aimed at improving regional air connectivity. The company is focusing on building affordable and efficient solutions for shorter routes within India.
