LAT Aerospace, cofounded by Deepinder Goyal, has moved to a new 50,000-square-foot research and development facility in Gurugram and begun setting up in-house laboratories to design and build airplane components.
Cofounder Surobhi Das said the labs will focus on developing components such as powertrains and HIL (hardware-in-the-loop) systems. “We’re optimising for short take-off and landing (STOL) aircraft in our demonstrator, figuring out how to cut weight, building our own Monte Carlo simulator, developing a ground architecture for hybrid-electric systems (for charging infrastructure), designing physics models from scratch, and more,” she said.
Das, who previously served as the Chief Operating Officer of Zomato and left the company in November 2023, cofounded LAT Aerospace in early 2025 with Goyal, who has invested 20 million dollars in the venture. Goyal is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Zomato.
The Delhi-based startup aims to build low-cost, eight-seater STOL aircraft designed to enhance regional connectivity. With around ten employees across Delhi and Bengaluru, LAT Aerospace is focusing on developing both aircraft and gas turbine engines.
STOL aircraft are designed for short take-off and landing, typically serving intercity routes, while air taxis are used for intra-city transport.
The company is also in discussions to raise an additional 50 million dollars in seed funding to accelerate its development plans and expand operations.
