Kuntal Das rejoins Hindalco Industries Limited as Assistant General Manager Human Resources

Wishing Mr. Kuntal Das greater responsibilities and exciting challenges in this impressive new chapter!

His return marks a significant milestone, as his early HR career started at Hindalco within the Aditya Birla Group. Kuntal brings deep expertise in employee relations, HR business partnering, talent development, and workforce engagement across large industrial environments.

In his new role, he will lead HR strategy and people development initiatives across operational units, with a focus on enhancing workforce capability, supporting industrial relations, and strengthening employee engagement across the organization.

Before returning to Hindalco, Kuntal Das spent over four years at Tata Steel. Most recently, he served as Area Manager HRBP at the corporate level, managing HR operations across 27 locations nationwide, supporting nearly 3000 employees. He led capability building programs, workforce optimization, and cross functional HR initiatives that encouraged collaboration and shared learning across teams. Earlier at Tata Steel, as Senior Manager HRBP for factory operations in West Bengal, he managed HR and industrial relations for a large unionized workforce, successfully negotiating long term settlements and launching skill development programs that improved productivity and operational stability.

Prior to Tata Steel, Kuntal spent more than four years in various HR roles with Hindalco Industries. During that period, he managed employee relations and contract labor operations for a workforce of around 5000 across a smelter and power plant. He contributed to long term settlement processes, employee welfare initiatives, and programs that helped maintain positive and collaborative industrial relations.

Kuntal began his HR career through the Young HR Professionals program at Hindalco, gaining hands-on exposure to core HR operations and plant based people management.

He holds a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from IISWBM Kolkata and a Postgraduate Certificate in Human Resource Management from XLRI Jamshedpur, specializing in strategic HR leadership and industrial relations.

His return reinforces Hindalco’s commitment to nurturing experienced talent and strengthening a people first approach across its workforce.
