KPMG Study reveals India leads in AI Trust, but concerns remain

In its most recent survey, The Trust, Attitudes and Use of Artificial Intelligence: A Global survey 2025, KPMG found that up to 76% of Indians had faith in AI technology.

The most thorough worldwide assessment on public trust and views toward AI was carried out in partnership with the Melbourne Business School and involved polling more than 48,000 individuals in 47 countries between November 2024 and January 2025.

With 90% of Indians citing increased accessibility and effectiveness as a result of AI, the results highlight how much higher India’s level of faith in AI is than the global average of 46%.

Despite the widespread trust and benefits, concerns about AI persists. According to the report, 78% of Indians are concerned about the possible drawbacks of artificial intelligence. Sixty percent of respondents expressed concern about the loss of human interaction.

Furthermore, 54% of Indians have seen or experienced negative consequences from the usage of AI. A complicated but realistic view of AI governance is demonstrated by the fact that 73% of respondents think that present protections are enough, while almost half think more legislation is required.

AI is getting more and more common in Indian workplaces. The survey found that 97% of Indian workers consciously utilize AI in their regular job, and 93% of them think their company employs it. Notably, 67% of respondents believe they couldn’t do their task without it. But there are drawbacks to this reliance. Approximately 70% of Indian workers acknowledged using AI inappropriately, 73% said they had made mistakes because of it, and 72% said they had used AI against business policy.

Similar problems have emerged globally, with more than half of employees concealing their use of AI and over half admitting to uploading private corporate data into open AI tools. However, with 83% of organizations having an AI plan, 86% providing training in responsible AI use, and 80% putting rules controlling AI usage into place, India seems more equipped to handle these threats.

India still has a high level of AI literacy in spite of these worries. 83% of respondents feel confident utilizing AI technologies effectively, 64% have formal or informal training, and around 78% of respondents think they have the knowledge and abilities to utilize AI responsibly.
