Kolkata: The Kolkata Police have launched a “Report Your Cyber Crime” button on their website, allowing victims of cyber crime to easily access the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal to file their complaints. This new feature can be found at https://kolkatapolice.gov.in.
Victims need to provide key information such as their name, address, the relevant police station, the time of the incident, the amount lost, and the name of the bank. Once submitted, the complaint is promptly forwarded to the cyber crime division of Kolkata Police, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), and the appropriate banks, both public and private.
“The new functions allows victims to file cyber fraud complaints from anywhere in the country, ensuring immediate action. A key highlight of this initiative is the ability to block fraudulent transactions within 15 minutes of reporting, preventing scammers from withdrawing the stolen money,” said a senior officer of Kolkata Police.
Citizens can also dial 1644 to seek immediate guidance, the officer said.
