Kaynes Circuits India to Set Up ₹4,995 Crore Electronics Manufacturing Facility in Tamil Nadu

Kaynes Circuits India has announced an investment of ₹4,995 crore to establish an advanced electronic components manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. This marks the first major printed circuit board production unit in the region and supports India’s mission to strengthen its domestic electronics components industry.

The upcoming facility will manufacture a wide range of high-end products, including 74-layer printed circuit boards, high-density interconnect PCBs, flexible PCBs, high-performance laminates, camera module assemblies and wire harness assemblies. The plant is expected to become the centrepiece of a new electronics manufacturing cluster in Thoothukudi, complementing the existing hubs in Sriperumbudur and Hosur.

Strategically located near a proposed electric vehicle manufacturing facility, the Kaynes unit is projected to create approximately 4,700 direct jobs across Thoothukudi and nearby districts. This initiative aligns with India’s wider electronics component manufacturing programme, which has a total outlay of ₹22,919 crore to encourage local production of essential components such as PCBs, lithium-ion cells and passive electronic parts.

Industry analysts believe this investment will enable Tamil Nadu to move beyond device assembly and enter the high-value segment of the electronics manufacturing chain. The presence of the plant is expected to act as an anchor investment, supporting the development of a full-scale electronics and electric mobility ecosystem.

This major project is seen as a step forward in boosting India’s self-sufficiency in electronics and improving its global competitiveness. By localising the production of critical components and advanced assemblies, it enhances India ‘s electronics manufacturing capabilities and technological strength.
