Wishing Mr. Kanwardeep Singh Ahluwalia greater responsibilities and exciting challenges in this impressive new chapter!
In a graceful changing of the guard, Deutsche Telekom has unveiled that Kanwardeep Singh Ahluwalia, fondly known as KD, will step into the esteemed position of Group CIO in August 2025, succeeding the visionary Peter Leukert.
Leukert’s legacy, carved since 2017, is one marked by bold innovation and digital evolution. Under his leadership, Deutsche Telekom’s IT architecture was transformed from the inside out. His strategy reduced time-to-market from an arduous 18 months to a swift two months, and he ushered in a powerful wave of cloudification, with 80 percent of systems now operating in the cloud. His balance of agility, customer focus, and smart deployment of artificial intelligence redefined the company’s technological soul.
“Peter, your professionalism, dedication, and leadership have been invaluable,” said Timotheus Höttges, CEO of Deutsche Telekom. “You’ve transformed our IT landscape and made a lasting impact on our business. I wish you the best in your future endeavors, both professionally and personally.”
With Peter’s chapter drawing to a close, KD is poised to script a new story of innovation. A seasoned leader within the company, KD is celebrated for his daring ideas and passion for enhancing customer experience. His mark is already visible in the OneX ecosystem—a platform harmonizing digital products—and in the OneApp framework that powers the widely loved MeinMagenta App.
KD’s collaborative ventures with T-Mobile US on transformative tech projects have shown his strength in scaling solutions across continents, resonating deeply with the Deutsche Telekom’s ambition to grow globally through innovation.
Timotheus Höttges, while welcoming KD, reflected on the seamless transition, stating, “KD has always been committed to driving the best customer experiences. I am excited to see him bring that same energy to his new role as Group CIO.”
This appointment not only signals continuity but also highlights Deutsche Telekom’s deep-rooted philosophy of nurturing leaders from within. “I am proud we’ve found the right successor in KD,” Höttges added with conviction.
As KD prepares to step into this pivotal role, the world watches with anticipation for the next evolution in Deutsche Telekom’s journey toward a smarter, faster digital future.
