Kamlesh Harchandani Appointed as Chief Executive Officer Data Center Business at Waaree Group

Waaree Group has announced the appointment of Kamlesh Harchandani as Chief Executive Officer for its Data Center Business. This marks a major step in the company’s entry into India’s fast growing data center and colocation market. With more than 30 years of experience, including over 18 years in the data center industry, Harchandani brings expertise in strategy, design, business planning, and operations.

“We are delighted to welcome Kamlesh Harchandani as the CEO Data Center Business at Waaree Group,” the company said. “His strong background combined with knowledge of emerging technologies such as liquid cooling solutions will provide an edge for upcoming data centers of Waaree Group.”

Before joining Waaree, Harchandani served as Vice President and Head of Data Center Design and Development at CapitaLand Data Center India Pvt Ltd. In his more than five years there, he led the design and development of greenfield projects, planning IT loads between 25 MW and over 150 MW in key cities including Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bangalore. His work earned recognition through awards such as Outstanding Technical Achievement, Extra Miler, and Eminence and Excellence.

Harchandani earlier worked as Country Head for Data Center Projects (India and SAARC) at Sterling and Wilson, part of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group. In that role, he delivered several greenfield and captive data centers across India, with IT load capacities of up to 60 MW, including Tier IV Certified state level projects.

Harchandani also spent nearly nine years at IBM India as Senior Solution Architect for Data Center Projects, handling customer engagement, technical design, vendor negotiations, and large scale infrastructure delivery including Tier III facilities and high density deployments for up to 8,000 IT racks. Earlier in his career, he led expansion projects at Reliance IDC, managing end to end delivery of data centers with electrical loads of up to 8 MVA.

He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Institute of Technology and Management.

His appointment signals Waaree Group’s strategic move into the data center and colocation sector, leveraging its strength in solar energy to develop sustainable, energy efficient, and high capacity facilities across India. “As Waaree Group expands into the data center and colocation space, Kamlesh’s leadership will play a key role in driving business growth, fostering innovation, building sustainable data centers and leveraging Waaree’s strong foundation in solar energy to deliver world class infrastructure,” the company added.
