Johnson & Johnson launches Global Capability Center in Hyderabad to boost life sciences innovation

Global pharmaceutical leader Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has announced the launch of its Global Capability Center (GCC) in Hyderabad, India, marking a major step in strengthening the city’s position as a leading hub for life sciences and healthcare innovation.

Location and focus
Located at RMZ Nexity in HITEC City, the new GCC operates under J&J’s Innovative Medicine division. The centre will support key areas such as research and development, digital innovation, data analytics, and business transformation. This move further emphasises Hyderabad’s growing role as a preferred destination for global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

Recruitment and operations
Although an official statement from Johnson & Johnson is yet to be released, recent job listings in Hyderabad indicate an active hiring drive across technology, regulatory, and R&D functions. Reports suggest that the GCC is already operational, with team onboarding progressing in phases.

Hyderabad’s life sciences ecosystem
By setting up the new centre, Johnson & Johnson joins other leading global life sciences firms such as Novartis, Sanofi, Bristol Myers Squibb, Roche, and AstraZeneca, all of which have a strong presence in Hyderabad. The city continues to attract global attention as a key hub for pharmaceutical research and healthcare development.

The launch of J&J’s GCC highlights the company’s strategy to harness India’s skilled workforce, advanced digital infrastructure, and efficient operational environment. It also reinforces Hyderabad’s standing as a vital location for global healthcare and life sciences companies looking to expand their operations and drive innovation.
