In a move that’s set to fuel the future of smart mobility, Australian automotive tech startup Doftek has welcomed a seasoned global expert to its ranks. Jochen Hermann, the former Chief Technical Officer and board member of Mercedes-AMG, has officially joined Doftek’s Advisory Board.
This key appointment comes at a time when Doftek is gaining international traction for its pioneering Active Wheel Alignment (AWA) technology—an innovation that allows real-time control of camber, caster, and toe on all four wheels, adapting dynamically to road conditions and performance needs.
Hermann’s entry into Doftek’s orbit is no accident. With over 30 years of deep-rooted experience at the heart of the Mercedes-Benz Group, Hermann has played a defining role in shaping high-performance and electric vehicle platforms. He led the creation of the AMG GT line-up and was the mastermind behind the Mercedes-AMG One hypercar, which famously set a sub-6:30 lap record at Nürburgring Nordschleife, a feat once thought impossible for a road-legal vehicle.
But what sparked his connection with Doftek? Hermann explained, “The challenge for a vehicle engineer is to manage the trade-off between performance, emissions or battery range, and safety. Doftek’s technology addresses this challenge.” His search for a next-gen active wheel alignment solution led him straight to the Melbourne-based firm. “A few weeks [after the search began] the team returned with exciting news: they had discovered an Australian company that not only developed a solution but had also successfully integrated it into one of their own AMG vehicles.”
With several prototypes already in testing with international OEMs, Doftek’s technology has proven its impact—delivering quicker lap times, shorter ABS braking distances, and reduced rolling resistance.
Dr. Geoff Rogers, founder of Doftek, believes Hermann’s involvement is a pivotal milestone: “His appointment unlocks major opportunities as we push forward toward series production with major automakers.”
Doftek’s journey is not just about tech, but about transforming the driving experience itself—where precision, safety, and efficiency meet at high speed.
