Hyderabad: A fraudulent job agent from Gujarat, who reportedly deceived a youth from Karimnagar into traveling to a cyber crime center in Myanmar under the pretense of offering an IT job, was apprehended on Wednesday upon his arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
The suspect, Hitesh, was arrested following a look-out notice issued by the Union home ministry. Authorities in Delhi alerted the Manakondur police in Karimnagar district about his arrival, leading to his subsequent arrest.
The victim, Kokkirala Madhukar Reddy from Rangampeta in Manakondur, was one of many individuals ensnared in the cyber crime hub of Mywaddy in Myanmar, located near the Thailand border. They were recently rescued by the Indian embassy. He returned home last month and provided a comprehensive account of the job scam and the abuse he and others endured in Mywaddy.
Madhukar informed the police that he discovered the job opportunity through a Telegram group named ‘Chinese Job’ approximately five months ago. The agents provided him with an air ticket to Bangkok, where he was greeted by a man named Shyam Rao and given a local SIM card. From there, he was transported by bus to Mywaddy and subsequently driven in a car to the ‘company’ where he was required to sign a one-year job contract.
However, upon discovering that it was an international cyber crime operation, he declined to participate.
Once he was able to reach out to his family and share his situation, they lodged a complaint with the authorities. A friend of Madhukar from Karimnagar also sent letters to several central government agencies, highlighting how Madhukar had been ensnared. He was later rescued.
According to the information regarding Hitesh, he was ultimately apprehended on Wednesday, stated Karimnagar ACP Shubham Prakash. He has been placed in judicial custody, he added.
