Jio Payments Bank has won a major contract to implement advanced Multi Lane Free Flow toll collection systems at two toll plazas on the Gurugram-Jaipur highway. The project marks the bank’s entry into India’s next-generation tolling infrastructure.
Under the contract, awarded by Indian Highways Management Company Limited, Jio Payments Bank will install FASTag Automatic Number Plate Recognition based MLFF technology at the Shahjahanpur and Manoharpura toll plazas. The system allows vehicles to pass through toll points without stopping, using a combination of radio frequency identification, automatic number plate recognition, and satellite navigation.
The initiative is part of India’s pilot MLFF programme aimed at creating seamless and barrier-free travel across national highways. Of the five MLFF contracts awarded so far, Jio Payments Bank has secured two, demonstrating strong competitiveness in this emerging sector.
This milestone adds to the company’s existing toll management operations, which began in July 2025. The bank currently handles toll collection at 11 plazas across different highway routes as an acquirer bank. With the MLFF expansion, Jio Payments Bank is set to play a larger role in India’s infrastructure-linked digital payments ecosystem.
Vinod Easwaran, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Jio Payments Bank, said, “Our expansion into the tolling ecosystem is a natural progression of our mission to digitise everyday payments and build smart financial infrastructure at scale.”
The company plans to use Jio Platforms’ digital and technology capabilities to enhance its toll management operations. The initiative aligns with India’s ongoing infrastructure growth and rapid digitalisation efforts.
Jio Payments Bank is a subsidiary of Jio Financial Services Limited, which offers a range of financial services through the JioFinance app.
