Jindal Group launches Trevel in India’s urban mobility market

The Jindal Group has stepped into India’s urban mobility sector with the launch of Trevel, a chauffeur driven cab service focused on city travel and airport transfers.

The service has been introduced by Sahil Jindal, Managing Director at Jindal Group, marking the group’s entry into a space currently led by Ola, Uber, and Rapido. According to a LinkedIn post by Jindal, Trevel was conceptualised after discussions highlighted gaps in the ride hailing experience offered by existing platforms. The Gurugram based company has quietly begun operations over the past month.

Trevel has started operations with a fleet of MG Windsor electric vehicles and is offering scheduled city rides along with airport transfers. The company plans to introduce additional vehicle categories in the coming months. As per details on its website, Trevel operates a pre booked, chauffeur driven electric cab model with fixed pickup schedules and upfront pricing. Bookings are currently available through the company website, while Android and iOS applications are expected to be launched soon.

During its pilot phase, Trevel completed over 50 rides. The company follows a fleet led approach, with vehicles either owned directly or operated through partners aligned with its operating framework.

The launch comes at a time when the premium electric cab segment is seeing change following the suspension of services by BluSmart. The all electric platform had expanded across several cities before shutting down operations, leaving a gap in the chauffeur driven electric mobility space.

While positioning itself within electric mobility, Trevel will also compete with Ola, Uber, and Rapido, especially in airport transfers and scheduled urban rides. Unlike aggregator led models, Trevel is currently using a booking first strategy with a controlled fleet rollout.

According to Sahil Jindal, the company spent 6 months aligning its fleet, technology, and operations before launch. The company said more information on expansion, vehicle additions, and platform rollout will be shared in the coming months.

The move appears to draw lessons from earlier electric cab models while leveraging access to electric vehicles from the MG portfolio. The focus on airport pickup and drop services reflects a strategy aimed at managing costs and demand. Factors such as charging access, charging speed, and charging costs remain key challenges in the electric cab ecosystem. With MG offering subscription models starting at Rs 3.50 per KM, the launch of Trevel also presents a potential business proposition for existing and new cab owners.
