JBM and Hitachi ZeroCarbon Join Forces to Supercharge EV Battery Intelligence

In a powerful step toward cleaner public transportation and smarter electric mobility, JBM Electric Vehicles has joined hands with Hitachi ZeroCarbon to revolutionize battery efficiency in electric buses. This fresh partnership, announced in New Delhi, brings together innovation and intent to tackle one of the most pressing EV challenges: battery management in extreme weather conditions.

At the heart of this alliance lies Hitachi’s cutting-edge ZeroCarbon BatteryManager system. This intelligent technology will now be integrated into JBM’s fleet to gather real-time operational data, providing deep insights into charging behaviors, route efficiency, and resource utilization. The aim is clear — refine performance, stretch battery life, and uplift the economics for public transport operators, especially across India and the Middle East where the climate poses relentless tests.

“This collaboration with Hitachi ZeroCarbon will ensure critical parameters for enhancing our battery performance proactively for each customer under different climatic conditions,” said Nishant Arya, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of JBM Auto Ltd. He emphasized that the new tech will also boost battery resale value and optimize the total cost of ownership.

Ram Ramachander, CEO of Hitachi ZeroCarbon, shared, “India’s diverse climate makes it an ideal showcase for our BatteryManager solution,” calling the initiative a “landmark” in sustainable fleet innovation. He underscored the technology’s potential to empower fleet operators to better adapt to geographic and environmental diversity.

Since their electric debut in 2018, JBM’s buses have covered more than 150 million green kilometers, serving a staggering 1 billion commuters worldwide. The company operates what it calls the world’s largest dedicated electric bus manufacturing site outside China, capable of producing 20000 units annually.

Hitachi, which has been rooted in India since the 1930s, continues to support the country’s tech evolution with a team of over 39000 professionals across 28 companies.

As cities accelerate their shift toward zero-emission transit, initiatives like FAME continue to fuel EV adoption. Yet, battery optimization remains a puzzle — one this collaboration seeks to solve with data, precision, and purpose.
