Fincantieri Marinette Marine has announced that Jan Allman is returning as the company’s CEO, effective immediately. This marks a significant leadership change, as Allman returns to a role she previously held for seven years. The company’s board of directors officially approved the appointment last week.
Allman served as the CEO of Fincantieri Marinette Marine from 2014 to 2021 before taking on the role of Vice President and General Manager at Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding in April 2023. In addition to her executive experience, she also served as Senior Vice President for Public Affairs and Community Relations at Fincantieri Marine Group.
Mark Vandroff, the current CEO, will transition to a new position as Senior Vice President of Government Relations in Washington. Vandroff, who has led Fincantieri Marinette Marine since July 2021, will now focus on managing the company’s key relationships with government leaders, including officials in the Department of Defense and Navy, as well as elected figures. Vandroff’s leadership helped guide the Constellation-class frigate program through a crucial phase, a project that began under Allman’s leadership.
“I want to thank Mark for his exceptional leadership at FMM, and I look forward to working with him as we navigate our company’s many opportunities with government stakeholders in Washington,” said Marco Galbiati, CEO of Fincantieri Marine Group. “And I want to welcome Jan back to Marinette, where she spent many years overseeing the successful production of Freedom-class LCSs and the start of the frigate program.”
This leadership change comes at a crucial time for Fincantieri Marinette Marine, which is currently finalizing the detailed design for the Constellation-class frigate’s lead ship. Construction is set to begin later this spring, with the first vessel scheduled for delivery by 2029. The company has also secured contracts for five additional frigates, ensuring steady operations in Marinette for at least the next decade.
With nearly 3,000 employees and three shipyards in the Great Lakes region, Fincantieri Marine Group is one of Northeast Wisconsin’s largest employers. The company is a subsidiary of Fincantieri, the Italian shipbuilding giant specializing in naval, cruise, and offshore vessel construction.
