Alliant Credit Union, the nation’s only fully digital credit union, has announced the appointment of Jamie Warder as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO) and head of business strategy. Taking on this role on July 8, Warder will be responsible for steering the credit union’s “member vision, business strategy, and technology execution,” according to the organization.
Warder brings with him an impressive 20-year career, renowned for developing national, digital, purpose-driven banking models. His expertise has been honed at leading financial institutions, most recently at KeyBank, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the bank’s business banking and investment services, as well as its digital platform, Laurel Road. Prior to his tenure at KeyBank, Warder had significant roles at National City Bank, PNC Bank, USAA Bank, ING, and Capital One, where he served as EVP of retail and direct banking.
Before his successful transition into banking in 2006, Warder served as an armor and cavalry officer in the US Army, adding a unique dimension to his leadership journey.
Alliant Credit Union, established in 1935, is now the largest credit union in Illinois, with over $20 billion in assets and nearly 800,000 members. The credit union, headquartered in Chicago, prides itself on its fully digital model, which sets it apart in the financial services sector.
Warder’s appointment comes at a time when numerous high-level CIO appointments are taking place across the fintech industry, with recent shifts seen in major organizations, highlighting the evolving nature of leadership in financial technology.
CEO Dennis Devine praised Warder’s track record, stating that he has been instrumental in shaping purpose-driven digital banking strategies, which will be crucial in helping Alliant achieve its next phase of growth. With his wealth of experience, Warder is expected to continue driving innovation and enhancing member experiences at Alliant, pushing forward its mission to redefine the digital banking experience.
