Jamal Ahmad takes on an expanded role as Head of Human Resources at Aditya Birla Group

In a move to strengthen its people leadership, Aditya Birla Group has elevated a seasoned HR leader to oversee its regional human resources agenda. In this role, Ahmad will lead the overall people strategy and organisational development for the region, with a focus on workforce effectiveness, capability building, and long-term HR excellence.

The elevation follows his successful tenure of nearly 5 years as Senior General Manager and Head of Industrial Relations and Employee Relations at the group. During this period, Ahmad managed complex industrial relations, employee engagement, and benefit design across large and diverse operations. With a career spanning about 30 years, he is widely recognised for harmonising workforce relations and driving HR excellence in large-scale industrial environments.

Before this role, Ahmad built a strong leadership track record during a decade-long stint at Hindalco Industries Limited. He progressed from Assistant General Manager to General Manager and Head of IR and ER, where he led critical industrial relations initiatives and strengthened compliance and workforce stability.

Earlier in his career, Ahmad held key HR and administrative leadership roles at ACC Limited, Bata India Limited, and Arush Metal Casting Ltd.. Across these organisations, he consistently led people functions with a strong emphasis on statutory compliance, talent management, and operational discipline.

He began his career at Hindusthan Malleables & Forgings Ltd., where he developed a solid foundation in learning and development and statutory compliance, shaping his long-term approach to people management.

By combining deep expertise in industrial relations with strategic human resource leadership, Ahmad now spearheads the HR agenda for Aditya Birla Group, supporting organisational growth through strong people practices.
