Jabil, a global manufacturing services company, is set to invest over ₹2,000 crore in a new high-tech manufacturing plant in Sanand, Gujarat. This significant investment was announced by India’s Minister of Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, highlighting the growing momentum in India’s electronics manufacturing sector.
The new facility will be dedicated to producing advanced silicon photonics components and providing comprehensive electronic manufacturing services. These capabilities are crucial for supporting cutting-edge technologies and industries, including quantum computing, advanced telecommunications (5G/6G), Internet of Things (IoT) devices, sophisticated radar systems, and avionics.
Jabil’s commitment to expanding its manufacturing footprint in India aligns with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, which aims to boost domestic production and reduce reliance on imports. Jabil has already been recognized as a leading beneficiary of the government’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for the telecom sector, having received incentives totaling ₹235.87 crore over the past two financial years.
“This investment by Jabil is a testament to India’s growing attractiveness as a global manufacturing hub for high-tech electronics,” stated Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. “It will not only create significant employment opportunities but also strengthen our capabilities in critical technology areas, contributing to India’s vision of becoming a global leader in electronics manufacturing.”
Jabil’s manufacturing plant in Sanand is expected to play a pivotal role in fostering innovation and enhancing India’s competitiveness in the global electronics supply chain, particularly in advanced and strategic sectors.
