Apple has rolled out the iOS 26.2 update for iPhone, marking the second major update to its latest operating system launched in September. After several weeks of testing through developer and public beta versions, the stable update is now available to eligible devices, bringing interface tweaks, app improvements and added safety features.
According to Apple, iPhone models that were enrolled in the beta programme and running the iOS 26.2 beta can now download the stable release. Users can install the update by opening the Settings app, selecting General, then Software Update and tapping Download and Install after accepting the terms. The device may restart multiple times during the installation process.
One of the key highlights of iOS 26.2 is improved customisation of the Liquid Glass interface. Apple has added new lock screen clock options that allow users to adjust opacity. Apple Music has also received updates, with the Favourite Songs playlist now appearing in the Top Picks section. Users can also download lyrics for offline viewing, making them accessible without an internet connection. In addition, Apple has introduced alarms in the Reminders app, complete with snooze options and Live Activity support to help manage urgent tasks.
The iPhone update also strengthens safety and usability across apps. Enhanced Safety Alerts will notify users about threats such as floods and natural disasters, along with maps and safety links, though this feature is limited to the US. AirDrop now includes extra verification when sharing files with unknown users through code confirmation. Podcasts gains auto generated chapters and direct links to mentioned shows. The Games app adds sorting filters, live challenge score banners, and better controller support. Other additions include screen flashing alerts in Accessibility, a new Apple News link in the Today Feed and simplified multipack accessory pairing in the Home app.
