Instagram has launched AI Voice Effects for voice notes in direct messages (DMs). The feature allows users to apply different voice filters while recording and sending voice messages. It is now live in India and can be accessed within any chat window.
Users can choose from 8 AI-powered voice effects, including “Chipmunk”, “Demon”, “Alien”, “Robot”, “Underwater”, “Stadium”, “Wobble”, and “Fishbowl”. There is also an option to switch back to the original voice recording by selecting the “Original” button. Users can view the name of the applied effect by tapping on the voice note, and recipients can also try the same effect before sending their own messages.
To use the feature, users need to open Instagram, go to any DM conversation, tap the voice note recording button, and select the AI Voice Effects option. After recording, they can apply a filter and preview the voice note before sending it.
This feature is part of Instagram’s broader push to integrate more AI-driven tools into its platform. Reports suggest that the company is also working on an AI-based face swap feature, possibly called “Create My Likeness.” This tool is expected to allow users to generate images and videos using prompts, including content based on a person’s likeness.
The rollout highlights the growing use of AI to enhance user interaction and content creation across social media platforms.
