Infosys teams up with US bank to launch AI-first GCC in Bengaluru

Strengthening India’s role in global banking innovation, IT major Infosys has partnered with US-based lender Citizens Financial Group to set up an AI-first Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Bengaluru.

The new Bengaluru hub will function as an AI-first GCC and focus on driving artificial intelligence-led transformation across Citizens’ banking operations, product development, and customer experience. Infosys said it will serve as the delivery partner and bring its expertise in AI, cloud, and cybersecurity to support Citizens’ AI-first operating model.

This development comes even as Citizens Group had earlier, in April 2025, announced a separate joint initiative with Infosys rival Cognizant to establish a GCC in Hyderabad.

“This engagement with Citizens, complements the existing partnership focused on AI transformation, which has helped the bank advance innovation and enhance customer service,” the company added in its statement.

The partnership also aligns with a broader trend of global banks expanding their India-based GCC presence to scale AI development, access skilled talent, and strengthen digital product engineering capabilities.

India currently hosts over 130 BFSI GCCs, which together employ around 1,37,000 people.

As part of the collaboration, India’s second-largest IT company will deploy its Topaz platform to support the creation of agent-ready capabilities. These will integrate infrastructure, data, models, applications, and workflows into a unified system.

According to the company, this approach is designed to accelerate the launch of new digital banking products while improving operational efficiency and strengthening security frameworks.

Citizens said the AI-first innovation hub reflects its long-term strategy to embed artificial intelligence across its technology ecosystem and develop a skilled global workforce.

“Partnering with leading technology firms like Infosys and leveraging Infosys Topaz Fabric is helping transform how we serve our customers by integrating advanced AI at the core of our operations to deliver more modern, secure, and personalized banking experiences,” Michael Ruttledge, Head of Enterprise Technology & Security, Citizens Financial Group, was quoted as saying in the release.
