Infosys partners with Cognition to deploy autonomous AI engineer Devin across operations and client work

Infosys has announced a strategic partnership with US based AI startup Cognition to roll out Devin across its internal systems and global client engagements.

The collaboration focuses on deploying Devin, described as the world’s first AI software engineer, by combining Cognition’s agentic AI capabilities with Infosys Topaz Fabric, the company’s multi layered AI services suite. The move aims to speed up software development, improve engineering productivity, and reduce time to market for enterprises undergoing large scale digital transformation.

A key element of the partnership is the use of autonomous and agentic AI to support and in some cases independently perform software engineering tasks. Devin is built to reason through complex development challenges, write and test code, resolve bugs, and manage workflows with minimal human involvement. By embedding this capability into its delivery ecosystem, Infosys plans to offer faster, more adaptive, and outcome focused engineering models to clients.

Scott Wu, founder and CEO of Cognition, highlighted the importance of the collaboration, saying. “We are thrilled to collaborate with Infosys to bring the power of autonomous and agentic Al engineering to some of the world’s most complex enterprises.” He added. “Infosys Topaz Fabric and Devin together offer unmatched capability from real-time developer augmentation to fully autonomous engineering execution. Infosys is the first large digital services and consulting firm to deploy agentic tools at this scale.”

From Infosys’ standpoint, the partnership enhances its ability to modernise enterprise technology environments while ensuring quality and governance. Infosys Topaz Fabric serves as the core AI layer, coordinating data, models, and services so that agentic tools like Devin can be deployed responsibly and at scale. The joint solution is expected to support application modernisation, cloud native development, and continuous maintenance and optimisation.

Infosys CEO and Managing Director Salil Parekh explained the client impact, stating. “By integrating Cognition’s advanced agentic and autonomous engineering expertise with our industry leading domain and delivery capabilities, we are creating a differentiated value proposition for the market.” He added. “This synergy is further enhanced by Infosys Topaz Fabric, which will serve as a catalyst for modernisation and innovation for clients to achieve their strategic objectives.”

As enterprises move from AI pilots to production ready autonomous systems, the Infosys and Cognition partnership signals a growing shift toward agentic AI as a foundation of future software engineering and digital services delivery.
