India’s Smartphone Shipments Grow 7 to 8 % in June Quarter

India’s smartphone market recorded a rebound in the June quarter, with shipments rising 7 to 8 per cent year on year after two consecutive quarters of decline. Around 37 to 38 million units were shipped during the period.

The growth was driven by an increase in new model launches across all price segments, better margins for sales channels and strong above-the-line marketing. However, analysts noted that consumer demand remained weak, and rising average selling prices are likely to limit a full-year recovery in shipments.

Average selling prices reached a record 275 US dollars in the second quarter, marking a 10.8 per cent increase compared with the same period last year.

The entry-level segment, which had been falling, saw a sharp recovery with 22.9 per cent growth. Its market share rose to 16 per cent, up from 14 per cent a year earlier.

Apple continued its strong performance, with shipments rising 21.5 per cent year on year to 5.9 million units in the first half of 2025. The iPhone 16 was the most shipped model in India during the first half of the year, accounting for 4 per cent of total shipments.

Shipments to offline retail channels increased 14.3 per cent year on year, lifting their market share to 53.6 per cent. In contrast, online channel shipments remained flat in the second quarter of 2025.
