A growing gap is emerging between aspiration and reality for India’s young tech workforce. While global technology giants continue to attract top talent, a new survey suggests that working at these firms may not always meet expectations.
According to a study by Blind, companies such as Amazon, Microsoft and Meta do not feature in India’s top 15 highest-rated employers, despite being among the most sought-after workplaces. The report, published on February 25, is based on anonymous responses from 40,686 verified employees. Respondents rated employers on overall satisfaction, career growth, work-life balance, compensation and benefits, company culture and trust in management. A cumulative “Would you work here?” poll was also conducted among users who were not employees of the listed companies.
So far in 2026, the highest-rated employers in India include Nvidia, Google, Apple, Akamai Technologies, VMware, Adobe, Target, CRED, Nokia, ThoughtWorks, Airbnb, Lowe’s, Autodesk, Zoho and ServiceNow. New entrants compared to last year include Adobe, CRED, Nokia, ThoughtWorks, Airbnb, Lowe’s and Autodesk. On the other hand, the lowest-rated employers include DP World, Paytm, Tekion Corp, Zeta, Sprinklr, along with newer additions such as Ola, Groupon, OYO, Samsung Electronics, HCL Enterprise, Deliveroo, Compass, Rippling, Infosys and Cashfree.
The findings come at a time of rising AI-driven uncertainty. Amazon recently announced job cuts affecting over 16,000 roles globally, while India’s $300 bn IT sector faces disruption from advanced AI and automation. The study highlights that brand prestige and employee satisfaction often do not align. It also notes that compensation and satisfaction show limited overlap. “Overall, fewer than a third of the top-paying companies appear among the highest-rated employers,” it said. Companies most desired in 2026 include Atlassian, Flipkart, inMobi, Uber, Walmart, Salesforce, Oracle and ShareChat. “Some of the highest-paying companies like Meta, Broadcom and Amazon do not appear among the top-rated employers,” it said. “Conversely, certain companies with strong overall satisfaction scores offer median compensation below the top tier, like Akamai Technologies, Target and CRED,” the study added.
