In a major advancement for India’s healthcare system, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi officially opened the first phase of the 450-bedded Namo Hospital in Silvassa. This cutting-edge facility, costing ₹460 crore, aims to deliver top-tier medical services to the area, improving both healthcare access and infrastructure.
During the inauguration, PM Modi also introduced several public welfare initiatives totaling over ₹2,500 crore. These projects cover various sectors, including healthcare, education, and essential infrastructure, highlighting the government’s dedication to comprehensive regional development.
A standout moment of the event was the unveiling of Misso, India’s first locally developed AI-driven robotic system for knee replacement surgery. Meril, a prominent medical technology firm, created Misso, and its CEO, Vivek Shah, showcased the system in front of the Prime Minister.
“At Meril, we are committed to developing innovative, world-class technologies that not only enhance surgical precision but also improve clinical outcomes and patient recovery. Misso represents a proud milestone in India’s journey towards self-reliance in advanced medical technology,” said Vivek Shah, CEO, Meril.
The AI-driven robotic system is poised to transform orthopedic surgeries by providing enhanced accuracy, quicker recovery periods, and better overall patient results. This groundbreaking medical technology further solidifies India’s role in the global healthcare innovation arena.
During his visit, PM Modi examined a 3D model of the forthcoming Namo Hospital, praising its state-of-the-art medical infrastructure and cutting-edge facilities. He showed a strong interest in the technological progress that is advancing India’s healthcare sector and highlighted the importance of homegrown medical technology in improving access to quality healthcare for everyone.
The opening of Namo Hospital represents a significant advancement in healthcare services in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, ensuring that local residents can access high-quality medical facilities. This initiative reflects the government’s vision for a strong and self-sufficient healthcare system, in line with India’s larger objectives of technological and infrastructural growth in the medical domain.
