India Mobile Congress 2025: Telecom’s GDP share may rise from 14% to 20% by 2037, says Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia

At the International 6G Symposium held during India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that over the last 11 years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has driven the growth of India’s telecom sector, making digital inclusion and connectivity key pillars of the country’s future.

He noted that the telecom sector currently contributes 12 to 14% of India’s GDP, a figure expected to rise to 20% over the next 12 years.

Highlighting the government’s evolving role, Scindia said it is now “less of a regulator, more of a facilitator,” adding that 30 ministries have come together at IMC 2025 to showcase nation’s digital and technological strength.

“Within a period of just 20 months, we produced a full 4G stack,” Scindia said, stressing that India not only builds solutions for domestic needs but also “builds for the world.”
