India joins Pax Silica declaration to strengthen AI and supply chain security cooperation

Amid growing global focus on trusted technology partnerships, India has taken a significant step toward strengthening international collaboration in artificial intelligence and economic security frameworks.

India on Friday formally signed and joined the Pax Silica Declaration on the sidelines of the Global AI Impact Summit held in the national capital. The signing took place in the presence of US Ambassador to India Segio Gor, Jacob Helberg, United States Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment, and Union Minister for Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Welcoming India into the initiative, Gor highlighted the expanding cooperation between the two countries and emphasised shared strategic priorities. “We welcome India joining to co found the future tax silicon is about free society, whether free societies will control the commanding heights of the global economy. It’s about whether innovation happens in Bangalore and Silicon Valley or in surveillance states they use technology to monitor and control their people. We choose freedom, we choose partnership. We choose strength. And today, with India’s entry into Pax silica, we choose to win,” he said.

Jacob Helberg also praised India’s participation, stating that the move reinforces the link between economic security and national security while standing against coercion and practices that undermine global prosperity.

Pax Silica is the US Department of State’s flagship initiative focused on artificial intelligence and supply chain security. The declaration aims to build a shared economic security framework among allies and trusted partners. It highlights the importance of reliable supply chains as essential to mutual economic stability and recognises AI as a transformative force driving long-term growth.

India’s participation follows its recent involvement in the Critical Minerals Ministerial convened earlier in February by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, where External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar represented the country.

The India AI Impact Summit 2026, described as the first global AI summit hosted in the Global South, has brought together policymakers, industry leaders, academics, and civil society representatives to discuss responsible AI governance and inclusive technological development.
