India has solidified its position as a preferred destination for Global Capability Centers (GCCs), now hosting these crucial operational hubs for a significant portion of the world’s leading companies. As of June 2025, a remarkable 35% of the global Fortune 500 companies have established their GCCs in India.
This figure represents a substantial increase over the past decade, underscoring India’s growing appeal as a strategic location for global enterprises. The proportion of Fortune 500 companies with GCCs in India has steadily climbed from 22% in 2015 to 28% in 2020, reaching its current impressive level.
Global Capability Centers serve as vital extensions of multinational corporations, handling a wide array of functions including IT, finance, human resources, research and development, and business process management. India’s large pool of skilled talent, cost-effectiveness, and robust infrastructure have been key drivers behind this consistent growth.
The increasing presence of GCCs from the world’s top companies not only signifies India’s capability as a global talent and service provider but also contributes significantly to the nation’s economy through job creation and foreign investment. This trend is expected to continue as more global firms look to optimize their operations and leverage India’s competitive advantages.
