The Indian government has significantly ramped up its efforts to ensure a safe, trusted, and accountable cyberspace for all users, completing 9,700 cybersecurity audits across critical sectors. This extensive auditing initiative underscores the nation’s commitment to bolstering its digital defenses against evolving cyber threats.
These comprehensive audits were conducted by two key national agencies: the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) and the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre (NCIIPC). Their work falls under the purview of the Information Technology Act and its associated Rules, providing a robust legal framework for cybersecurity governance.
To facilitate these widespread audits, CERT-In has empaneled a substantial network of 200 cybersecurity organizations. This broad collaboration with specialized firms ensures that a wide range of critical infrastructure and digital systems are thoroughly assessed for vulnerabilities.
This proactive approach by the Centre aims to identify and mitigate potential cyber risks, protecting sensitive data and essential services from malicious attacks. The sheer volume of audits completed highlights the government’s dedication to creating a resilient and secure digital environment for its citizens and businesses.
