Indian government and IBM are exploring opportunities to collaborate on quantum computing

The Indian Ministry of Science and Technology said Tuesday that IBM and the Indian government are looking into ways to work together on artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and geospatial AI solutions.

Arvind Krishna, the global head of IBM, met with Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh to talk about how the two parties may collaborate in these cutting-edge technological areas.

The summit was held as India advances its National Quantum Mission, a program designed to position the nation as a leader in quantum technology worldwide.

India’s quick change under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which established the nation as a leader in artificial intelligence and next-generation technologies, was recognized by both parties.

Throughout the conversations, they looked at how geospatial AI solutions may progress technology in a variety of sectors.

India’s dedication to innovation and the importance of the private sector in advancing technology was reaffirmed by Dr. Singh, Minister of State for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, and other ministries.

“The decision to open up the space sector to private investment has already yielded success,” he said.

The Minister went on to say that India’s deep-tech aspirations were emphasized by the recent decision to permit private involvement in nuclear energy.

“India is more open than ever to global partnerships in emerging technologies,” Singh stressed.

With faith in India’s youthful potential to meet its development objectives by 2047, he emphasized the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), which aims to fortify the nation’s research environment.

While claiming that India is on level with, if not ahead of, many nations in developing tech industries, the minister also emphasized the significance of independence in crucial technology.

Earlier this month, the NITI Aayog published a paper emphasizing the increasing influence of quantum computing on national security.

According to the paper, quantum technology is not only a significant scientific breakthrough but also a major determinant of future world dominance.

“It has the potential to reshape defence, intelligence, and economic security, giving an edge to countries that master it,” the report said.
