IIMs Rewrite the Future: Fast-Tracking Curriculums to Ride the AI & Business Transformation Wave

India’s premier IIMs are accelerating curriculum upgrades to align with fast-changing tech and business landscapes. No longer waiting years for updates, IIMs like Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Indore, Sambalpur, and Raipur are rapidly embedding Generative AI, ESG, and digital innovation into their courses.

IIM Bangalore’s new Token Economy course equips students to create digital tokens, explore the Metaverse, and use no-code tools for immersive learning. “Token Economy is a newly designed cutting-edge course…to navigate digital platforms, create and launch tokens, and explore emerging models like non-fungible tokens and the Metaverse,” shared Mukta Kulkarni, Dean of Academic Programmes. ESG will also become a core MBA subject from June 2025.

At IIM Ahmedabad, the curriculum now includes ethical AI, deep-tech ventures, and GenAI. “We are actively evolving our curriculum to keep pace with advancements in technologies like artificial intelligence,” said Dean Diptesh Ghosh. The institute will also launch a full-time MBA in Dubai this September.

IIM Raipur is expanding into business analytics, crisis management, and creative modules like storytelling in marketing. “The landscape of management is changing rapidly with the integration of technology, sustainability, and globalisation,” noted Director Ram Kumar Kakani.

IIM Indore focuses on experiential learning with AI tools like TensorFlow and hands-on simulations. Director Himanshu Rai emphasized the role of live projects in preparing students for real-world challenges.

Meanwhile, IIM Sambalpur is incorporating AI-led case studies, machine learning, and entrepreneurship frameworks. “Technologies like AI, automation, machine learning and data analytics are no longer optional; they are essential tools for modern leaders,” said Director Mahadeo Jaiswal.

The IIMs are no longer just training managers. They’re shaping future-ready leaders.
