Hyderabad steadily establishes itself as a key hub for Global Capability Centers (GCCs)

Hyderabad has gradually become one of the nation’s most popular Global Capability Center (GCC) locations over the years. The brands that the city is able to draw into its fold are just as important as the quantity.

Global giants McDonald’s and Vanguard have chosen Hyderabad over other Indian metropolises like Bengaluru and Mumbai in only the previous few weeks. McDonald’s declared its intention to establish a GCC with 2,000 employees initially. For McDonald’s in India and beyond, the center will manage operations, training, and skill development. For its new GCC, Vanguard, one of the biggest investment management companies in the world, also choose Hyderabad over other Indian locations. They will employ people with expertise in data analytics and artificial intelligence.

This is the most recent in a long line of international companies that have established or are in the process of doing so in the city. These brands are found across a variety of industries, including IT, finance, and healthcare. Names like Microsoft, Google, Goldman Sachs, Syneriq Global, Eli Lilly, DBS, Deloitte, Hitachi Vantara, and Novartis are all over Hyderabad’s GCC map.

The city’s development and delivery center for Hitachi Vantara was just finished after five years.

What are the driving forces behind this pattern? Hyderabad is one of the top three Indian cities drawing GCCs, per the most recent Knight Frank survey. The city was responsible for a substantial portion of the 329 GCC agreements that were inked throughout India in 2024 alone. Experts believe that a combination of several elements contribute to Hyderabad’s success.

Joseph Thilak, National Director at Knight Frank India said, “Hyderabad emerges as a strong GCC destination due to availability of talent pool, combined with strong infrastructure initiatives by the local government. Its strategic location advantage and connectivity is unmatched and allows seamless migration from all parts of country. Availability of world class office real estate at less than a dollar coupled with best in class social infra like schools, colleges, hospitals, residential and retail catchment makes it a location of choice for GCC’s across segments”.

Hyderabad’s office leases are still far less expensive than those in some of the world’s most prestigious cities, according Knight Frank’s real estate study.
