Hyderabad man arrested on charges of cheating job aspirants by promising jobs in Dubai

Dharmender Kumar, also known as Rohan, 30, was arrested by Hyderabad Cybercrime authorities on suspicion of defrauding job seekers by offering them positions in Dubai.

With the aid of his assistants, Dharmender established a call center in New Delhi and defrauded individuals. He was implicated in five incidents around India, including one in Hyderabad, according to the probe.

A 49-year-old guy from Amberpet was recently defrauded of Rs 15.8 lakh by scammers. To handle the material internally, they requested payment from the victim. He paid the sum since he thought this was true, but he was duped.

The authorities said that in order to lure job seekers, the scammers created phony job advertising on well-known employment portals, social media, or firm websites. Scammers pose as representatives of respectable businesses and contact victims with unwanted calls, texts, or emails.

“These scammers use professional language and tone and even conduct fake interviews or assessments to build trust with victims. They create fake employee profiles on LinkedIn and other job portals to appear legitimate,” said a police official.

The scammers then trick the victims by requesting personal papers like passports, Aadhaar cards, or Social Security numbers, as well as bank account numbers and credit card information.

Cybercrime victims can visit cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930 for instant assistance.
