The company is placing the spotlight firmly on display comfort and writing realism with its latest tablet launch.
Huawei has unveiled the MatePad 11.5 S globally, focusing on a screen designed to reduce glare and deliver a more natural writing feel. While the tablet features a sleek metallic body, the main highlight is its new PaperMatte Display, which uses nano etched technology to cut down up to 99% of light interference and recreate the resistance of writing on real paper.
The MatePad 11.5 S runs on HarmonyOS 4.2 and supports NearLink technology, offering faster and more stable connections with compatible stylus and keyboard accessories. Together, these features aim to improve both productivity and creative workflows.
Pricing and exact regional availability have not yet been confirmed. However, the PaperMatte Edition is expected to be priced at €529, while the base model is likely to cost €479. Availability is expected in early 2026.
The MatePad features an 11.5 inch PaperMatte display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 2.8K resolution. It is powered by an 8800 mAh battery and measures 6.2 mm in thickness with a weight of 510 g. On the software side, it includes HarmonyOS 4.2 along with the new GoPaint app.
This launch builds on Huawei’s earlier tablet introduced in 2024, which also featured an 11.5 inch PaperMatte screen but with a 120Hz refresh rate. While the physical dimensions remain unchanged, the MatePad 11.5 S improves performance by increasing the refresh rate to 144Hz and upgrading the display to a sharper 2.8K FullView panel.
Most tablets in the market rely on glossy screens that reflect light and make outdoor use difficult. Huawei is challenging this trend by integrating the matte texture directly into the glass, rather than relying on external screen protectors that often reduce clarity.
By targeting students and digital artists, Huawei aims to deliver a true “pencil-on-paper” experience without compromising display quality, positioning the MatePad 11.5 S as a strong option for note taking and creative work.
