How to Block Unwanted Numbers on WhatsApp in a Few Simple Steps

With messaging now a daily part of life, many users are facing the growing problem of spam messages, unknown calls, and repeated disturbances on WhatsApp. While the app helps people stay connected, it also offers built in tools to protect users from unwanted contact and restore peace of mind.

WhatsApp allows users to block any number with just a few quick steps. Once a number is blocked, the person can no longer send messages, make calls, or view status updates. This gives users full control over who can reach them on the platform.

There are two easy methods to block an unwanted number on WhatsApp.

Method one begins directly from the chat screen. Open WhatsApp and go to the chat with the unwanted number. Tap the three dots in the top right corner. Select More and then tap Block. Tap Block again to confirm.

Method two works through the privacy settings. Open WhatsApp and go to Settings. Tap Privacy and then select Blocked contacts. Tap Add and search for the unwanted number. Select the number and tap Block to confirm.

Apart from blocking, WhatsApp also offers a feature to silence calls from unknown numbers. According to the company, the Silence Unknown Callers feature is designed to improve privacy and call control. It helps reduce spam, scam attempts, and calls from unfamiliar numbers. When this feature is turned on, calls from unknown numbers will not ring but will still appear in the call list in case the call is important.

With these tools, users can stay protected from unwanted contact while continuing to use WhatsApp safely and confidently.
