Ahead of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Honor has unveiled its latest foldable smartphone, the Honor Magic V6. The device stands out for its large 6600 mAh battery and a newly designed hinge aimed at improving durability. Honor continues its push to claim the title of the thinnest foldable phone in the market.
The Magic V6 measures 4 mm in thickness when unfolded and 8.75 mm when folded. This is slightly slimmer than last year’s model, which was 4.1 mm unfolded and 8.8 mm folded. While the difference is small, it supports Honor’s focus on ultra-thin design. One of the biggest upgrades is the battery, which increases from 5820 mAh last year to 6600 mAh. With Honor’s SuperCharge technology, the phone supports 80W wired charging and 66W wireless charging. The company also showcased a new silicon-carbon battery technology with 32% silicon density, which could push foldable battery capacity beyond 7000 mAh in the future.
The device features a 7.95-inch main AMOLED display with 2352 x 2172 pixel resolution and a 6.52-inch cover display with 2420 x 1080 pixel resolution. Both screens support LTPO 2.0 technology, allowing variable refresh rates between 1-120Hz for better readability and power efficiency. Honor introduced a new Super Steel Hinge with 2800 MPa tensile strength for long-term durability. The company claims it has reduced crease depth by 44%, making the screen appear smoother. The external display also gets a new anti-reflective coating with a reflectivity rating of 1.5%.
Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, the Magic V6 comes with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. It includes a triple rear camera setup: 50-megapixel main camera with f/1.6 aperture, 64-megapixel telephoto camera with f/2.5 aperture, and 50-megapixel ultrawide camera with f/2.2 aperture. On the front, there are dual 20-megapixel cameras with f/2.2 aperture. Honor is also working to improve compatibility with Apple devices. Users can enable 2-way notification sync with an iPhone, display notifications on an Apple Watch, share files with a Mac in 1 tap, and use the phone as an extended display. Pricing details were not disclosed, but the Magic V6 will launch in select international markets in the second half of the year.
