In a move that underlines the growing role of artificial intelligence in enterprise transformation, HCL Technologies has entered into a strategic multi-year partnership with The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America. Announced on January 28, 2026, the collaboration marks HCLTech’s appointment as Guardian’s strategic technology partner for large-scale digital modernisation.
The partnership forms a core part of Guardian’s AI-driven technology transformation programme. It focuses on modernising the insurer’s technology landscape through enterprise-wide innovation. As part of the engagement, Guardian will use HCLTech’s GenAI service transformation platform, AI Force, to improve operations and accelerate its digital initiatives.
Under the agreement, HCLTech will support Guardian across multiple technology domains. The collaboration is designed to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen engineering outcomes, and reduce time-to-market for new digital capabilities. The initiative also reflects a wider industry trend of adopting AI-led transformation while simplifying IT operations through strategic vendor consolidation.
The partnership is expected to deliver several benefits across Guardian’s business and technology ecosystem. These include stronger customer-facing digital innovation, improved efficiency across business units, a more streamlined experience for customers and policyholders, and faster timelines for technology modernisation.
From a leadership perspective, Steve Rullo, chief digital and technology officer at Guardian, highlighted that the partnership aligns closely with Guardian’s long-term strategy. The collaboration supports the company’s goal of using data and AI at scale, while working with a single strategic partner to modernise its core technology foundations.
Srinivasan Seshadri, chief growth officer and global head of financial services at HCLTech, said the partnership reflects HCLTech’s strong position in the financial services sector. He noted that the engagement brings together HCLTech’s AI capabilities, deep industry expertise, and global delivery strength to support Guardian’s business growth and transformation objectives.
