Haryana police block 36 percent of cyber fraud money in 2025

Haryana Police secured the first rank in the country in blocking money lost to cybercrime in 2025, according to data from the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal. The state managed to block around 36 percent of the total defrauded amount in time, giving major relief to victims. The second ranked state recorded a recovery rate of only 27 percent.

In a statement, Haryana Police said this gap highlights the speed, technology driven approach, and effectiveness of its cyber policing system. The department also reported a 36 percent reduction in total financial losses from cyber fraud during the year due to coordinated and strict action.

Director General of Police Ajay Singhal shared his vision for 2026, saying the force will make its fight against cybercrime more technology empowered, citizen focused, and result oriented. He said the achievements of 2025 have built a strong base and that the coming year will focus on breaking cybercrime networks at the root using artificial intelligence, data analytics, real time banking coordination, and proactive intelligence.

The DGP said the priority will not be limited to action after crimes. The focus will also be on preventing fraud, blocking money in time, and providing quick relief to citizens. He added that Haryana aims to become a model state in cyber security.

In 2025, the police received 1,41,685 complaints, which is 8.5 percent more than in 2024. With a 12.7 percent rise in case registrations, 6,212 cybercrime cases were registered. Police also took suo motu action in 356 cases, marking a 62.6 percent increase.
