Hafele has started operations at a new local production facility in Maharashtra, marking an important step in the company’s localisation strategy and its support for the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
The facility is designed to boost local value creation and establish a foundation for scalable manufacturing operations in India. The move also reflects the company’s focus on strengthening its manufacturing presence in one of its key growth markets.
In the first phase, Hafele has begun producing its MatrixBox Premium+ drawer systems, which are designed for modern kitchens. The system is engineered to deliver soft-close and noiseless performance and is built to support heavy-duty usage. It also offers multiple finish options along with customisable add-ons.
The company said the facility will gradually expand production to include additional product categories in the future.
Michael Distl, Chief Financial Officer of the Hafele Group, highlighted the importance of the investment in India.
“Strengthening our global production network requires strategic investments in key growth markets like India.”
Alongside the manufacturing expansion, Hafele has also enhanced its Service+Customised capabilities in India. The company has introduced locally produced aluminium profiled cabinet fronts from its Mumbai facility.
These customised components are pre-assembled and pre-drilled, which helps improve installation efficiency for kitchen, wardrobe, and furniture applications.
According to the company, the initiative is aimed at strengthening supply-chain resilience, reducing dependence on imports, and enabling a faster response to market demand across India and South Asia.
