Government’s Semiconductor Push Poised to Generate Lakhs of Jobs for Indian Youth

The Indian government’s concerted efforts and new policy initiatives aimed at promoting the semiconductor industry are projected to unlock hundreds of thousands of job opportunities for young engineering graduates and those pursuing related courses in the near future. This optimistic outlook comes from D. N. Rao, Vice President of Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM).

Rao emphasized the transformative potential of the government’s semiconductor drive, highlighting its capacity to absorb a significant portion of the skilled workforce. In anticipation of this burgeoning demand, educational institutions like CUTM are already taking proactive measures. The university is prioritizing the equipping of its students with additional, specialized skills to meet the exacting expectations of the electronic components industry.

The electronic components industry is recognized as a foundational pillar across a multitude of critical sectors. Its pivotal role extends to power generation, telecommunications, automotive manufacturing, information technology, and various other essential industries, underscoring the widespread impact of a robust domestic semiconductor ecosystem.

This strategic push by the Indian government is not only aimed at fostering self-reliance in a critical technological domain but also at creating substantial employment avenues, thereby contributing significantly to the nation’s economic growth and semiconductor  technological advancement.
