Google to roll out Nano Banana AI editing feature for Indian users

Google is bringing one of its most creative photo editing tools to India, powered by the advanced Nano Banana AI model. This update will make photo editing simpler, faster, and more creative for users of Google Photos across the country. The rollout, which has already started in the US, will begin in India next week.

‘Help me edit’ makes photo editing conversational
At the centre of this update is Google’s “Help me edit” feature, a conversational AI tool that lets users describe what changes they want in their photos using natural language. Instead of adjusting settings manually, users can type requests such as “remove my sunglasses,” “open my eyes,” or “make everyone smile.” The AI will automatically edit the photo based on the description, making the process easy and fun.

Creative editing powered by Nano Banana
The Nano Banana AI model adds an imaginative touch to traditional photo editing. Users can now give creative prompts like “turn this into a Renaissance portrait” or “make this look like a mosaic of colourful tiles.” This takes photo editing beyond filters, allowing users to mix artistic styles with their own pictures using generative AI.

AI templates for effortless creativity
Google Photos will also introduce a “Create with AI” carousel in the Create tab. This section will include ready-made prompts and templates such as “put me in a high-fashion photoshoot,” “create a professional headshot,” or “make a winter holiday card.” With just one tap, users can apply these styles and transform their photos within seconds.

Personalised templates coming soon
In the coming weeks, Google will roll out personalised templates designed around users’ photos, hobbies, and memories. People can ask for creative outputs like “draw my name in my favourite style” or “make a cartoon of me hiking.” The AI will analyse previous photos to generate results that match individual preferences.

Ask Photos feature expanding globally
Google’s “Ask Photos” feature, which lets users search their gallery using simple questions like “show me pictures from my Goa trip,” is also expanding to more than 100 countries and 17 languages. In India, users will notice a new “Ask” tab replacing the existing “Search” option in the Photos app.

These updates mark one of the most significant AI upgrades for Google Photos, making editing in India more seamless and creative than ever before.
