Google Pixel users face lock screen freezing issues after March 2026 update

Google Pixel users are reporting new software issues following the March 2026 Pixel update, with several devices experiencing freezing problems on the lock screen and always-on display.

The issue has been observed across multiple models, including the Pixel 10 series, Pixel 9 lineup, Pixel 9a, and Pixel 8 Pro. Users say their devices become unresponsive on the screen, even though some background functions continue to operate.

According to user reports, phones still respond to touch with haptic feedback, and features like the Gemini shortcut can activate the AI assistant. However, the display remains frozen, forcing users to perform a hard reboot by pressing and holding the power and volume up buttons.

At present, there is no confirmed fix for the problem. Some users suggested that installing a Google Play system update might resolve the issue, but results have been inconsistent. Others reported that rolling back to the February 2026 update temporarily restores normal functionality, though the issue returns after reinstalling the March update.

Google is reportedly aware of the situation, with its Pixel community team reaching out to affected users to collect more details.

This is not the first time Pixel updates have caused disruptions. Earlier in 2026, users experienced Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues following the January update, along with bugs such as camera failures, broken Settings search, network pages not loading, and increased idle battery drain.
