Google Maps and Mappls to guide Republic Day visitors to parking at Kartavya Path

Visitors heading to Kartavya Path to watch the Republic Day parade on January 26 will receive guided directions to designated parking areas through Google Maps and Mappls. The Delhi Traffic Police has partnered with the navigation platforms to ensure smoother vehicle movement and reduce congestion.

Real-time route support for visitors

Invited guests and ticket holders can use Google Maps or Mappls to access real-time navigation details. This includes approved routes to Kartavya Path and the exact location of their assigned parking areas, a senior police officer said.

“This initiative will help visitors reach their designated parking areas without inconvenience and reduce congestion on key routes,” he added.

The same facility will also be available during the Beating Retreat ceremony scheduled for January 29.

Digital tools for easier parking

To further assist visitors, the defence ministry has shared animated videos on its website explaining parking arrangements, the officer said.

A QR code-based parking system has also been introduced for spectators arriving by vehicles. The system covers 22 designated parking lots and is designed to handle nearly 8,000 vehicles.

Under this system, parking pass holders can scan the QR codes printed on their passes to receive real-time directions to parking areas closest to their seating enclosures.

Spectator pass details

Around 77,000 passes are issued every year for the Republic Day parade. Of these, nearly 8,000 passes are allocated to spectators arriving by vehicles.

The digital navigation and parking initiative aims to improve the overall experience for visitors while ensuring smoother traffic flow during national events.
