A new feature from Google aims to make it easier for users to organise complex projects, combining AI-powered assistance with structured knowledge management.
Google has introduced notebooks in its Gemini app, expanding integration with its research tool NotebookLM. The feature is designed to help users organise chats, files, and project materials in one place.
Notebooks act as personal knowledge bases, allowing users to group conversations, add documents such as PDFs, and provide context for more accurate AI responses. Users can also move past chats into notebooks and set custom instructions to guide Gemini’s outputs.
The feature enables better organisation of ongoing work, whether for studying, research, or personal projects. Once content is added, Gemini uses these curated sources along with its built-in tools and web search to deliver more relevant and contextual responses.
A key advantage is seamless syncing between Gemini and NotebookLM. Any file or source added in one platform automatically appears in the other, allowing users to switch between tools without losing continuity. This also enables access to additional features like video overviews and infographics within NotebookLM.
The number of sources users can add depends on their subscription plan, supporting more complex and long-term tasks.
The rollout of notebooks in Gemini has begun, initially available to Google AI Ultra, Pro, and Plus subscribers on the web. Google plans to expand access to mobile platforms, additional regions including parts of Europe, and free users in the coming weeks.
The update reflects Google’s focus on enhancing productivity tools with AI, making it easier for users to manage information, streamline workflows, and handle larger projects efficiently.
