Google Expands AI Mode in Search to 180 Countries with Smarter Features

Google has expanded its AI Mode in Search to 180 countries and territories, marking a major step in its artificial intelligence journey. The feature, which was previously available only in the United States, the United Kingdom, and India, is now accessible worldwide but continues to operate only in English. This rollout introduces Google’s conversational chatbot-style search experience to millions of new users.

Along with its global availability, Google is adding advanced agentic capabilities to AI Mode, starting with restaurant reservations. Subscribers to Google AI Ultra can now ask AI Mode to find dining options by providing details such as date, time, location, party size, and cuisine preference. Once a request is made, AI Mode reviews reservation platforms and restaurant websites to suggest suitable options.

“You can then choose from a list of restaurants and reservation slots, and AI Mode will link you directly to the booking page so you can finish your reservation,” Google explained. To support this feature, Google has partnered with platforms including OpenTable, Resy, Tock, Ticketmaster, StubHub, SeatGeek, and Booksy. Users can try the new option by enabling the “Agentic capabilities in AI Mode” experiment in Labs.

Google is also improving personalisation for users in the United States who have opted into AI Mode through Labs. At present, this applies only to dining-related queries but allows AI Mode to reference past searches, previous conversations, and clicked results. For example, if a user has earlier searched for Italian or vegan-friendly restaurants, AI Mode may highlight similar options in future dining suggestions.

Additionally, a new “Share” button is being introduced for AI Mode results in the United States. This feature lets users copy a link to their AI-powered chat and share it with friends or family. Shared results can be viewed and deleted at any time, offering greater control over information.

With these updates, Google is positioning AI Mode not just as a search tool but as a personalised assistant that changes how people explore, book, and share information online.
