Google expands affordable AI Plus plan to more markets with lower monthly pricing

In a move aimed at widening access to its AI tools, Google announced on Tuesday that its lower-cost Google AI Plus plan is now available across all markets where its AI subscriptions are offered. This includes the U.S., where the plan is priced at $7.99 per month.

The expansion adds 35 new countries and territories to the availability list. This follows earlier rollouts in several global markets that began with Indonesia in September last year.

The Google AI Plus plan gives users access to Gemini 3 Pro and Nano Banana Pro through the Gemini app. It also includes Flow’s AI filmmaking tools, research and writing support in NotebookLM, and other AI features. Subscribers receive 200GB of cloud storage and can share plan benefits with up to 5 family members.

Google stated that existing Google One Premium 2TB subscribers will automatically receive all Google AI Plus plan features over the next few days, without needing to change their current subscription.

The plan was initially introduced for emerging markets and is positioned as a step up from free access to Gemini and other AI tools. It is aimed at users who do not need, or cannot afford, the higher-priced Google AI Pro plan, which generally costs $20 per month.

Pricing for the Plus plan varies by region. In the U.S., the $8 monthly rate is expected to attract a more casual audience to Google’s AI offerings. In many other regions, the cost is lower than $5 per month. In India, for example, the plan is priced at ₹399, or about $4.44 per month.

When the plan was first announced, Google said it was created to make access to Gemini, Veo, and other creative AI tools more affordable in emerging markets. It is also positioned to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT Go plan, which costs $8 per month in the U.S. and less in some developing regions. These lower-priced plans aim to draw in large numbers of new users and support long-term AI adoption.

For a limited time, Google is offering a 50% discount for the first 2 months of the Google AI Plus subscription.
