Google confirms Pixel 10a launch, pre-orders to open on February 18

Quietly setting the stage for its next mid-range smartphone, Google has announced the Pixel 10a and confirmed that pre-orders will begin on February 18.

The US-based technology company shared a teaser on its online store, revealing the launch timeline and pre-order details. Google has not disclosed any specifications for the upcoming device so far. However, the teaser suggests that the Pixel 10a will feature a design similar to the Pixel 9a. The device also appears in a new colour, which looks like a blend of Iris, seen on the Pixel 9a, and Indigo, used on the Pixel 10.

With this launch, the Pixel 10a will expand the Pixel 10 series to 5 models. The lineup already includes the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

For context, the Pixel 9 series also consisted of 5 models, indicating that the Pixel 10a is likely the final addition to the Pixel 10 lineup.

Google Pixel 10a pre-order details and offers

Pre-orders for the Pixel 10a will start from February 18. Google has also announced a limited offer for early subscribers. Consumers who sign up as Google Store subscribers before 1:29 PM IST on February 13 will receive an offer email on the pre-order day. This offer can be combined with the Pixel 10a purchase to unlock a benefit on a future order.

Google Pixel 10a: What to expect

Recent reports have provided insights into the expected colours and hardware of the Pixel 10a. According to multiple reports, the smartphone is expected to launch in 4 colour options: Lavender, Obsidian, Berry, and Fog. This marks a shift from the Pixel 9a, which was available in Iris, Obsidian, Peony, and Porcelain, indicating a refreshed colour lineup.

Despite the new shades, the Pixel 10a is expected to look almost identical to its predecessor. The device may be powered by the Tensor G4 chipset, the same processor used in the Pixel 9a, instead of the newer Tensor G5 found in the Pixel 10 series.

A tech publication has reported that the Pixel 10a could feature 8GB of RAM, with storage options of 128GB or 256GB. The phone is also expected to come with a 6.3-inch OLED display offering a 120Hz refresh rate. It may be backed by a 5,100mAh battery with support for 23W wired charging, similar to the previous model.
