When Giants Converse: Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s Support Sparks Praise from Elon Musk

In an unexpected yet heartening twist on the digital stage, Google CEO Sundar Pichai stepped into the role of frontline support after Quora CEO Adam D’Angelo pointed out a concern with Google Meet. The dialogue unfolded publicly on X, captivating tech enthusiasts and sparking admiration from none other than Elon Musk.

D’Angelo had shared his company’s experience of briefly testing Google Meet instead of Zoom. He noted, “At Quora we recently tested switching from Zoom to Google Meet for a week. Google Meet is better in many small ways, but worse in one big way: audio quality, particularly background noise cancellation and echoing. That kills it so we are staying on Zoom!”

To this, Pichai responded with humility and intent, “Hey Adam, will follow up offline as haven’t experienced this, as @reed notes below it works pretty well in my experience, we will debug to understand the root cause and fix. Thanks for flagging.” Grateful, D’Angelo replied, “Thank you!! Would love to switch if this is fixed!”

The exchange didn’t go unnoticed. A co-founder named Yuchen Jin shared the screenshot on X, writing, “You know Google is back and probably will win the AGI race when its CEO starts doing customer support on X.”

This prompted Elon Musk to weigh in with a crisp yet powerful remark: “The smartest & most influential people in the world interact on X.”

Users across the platform chimed in. One exclaimed, “Wild times when CEOs are doing support in the replies.” Another said, “Learning directly from such interactions is an incredible experience.” Someone else reflected, “It’s amazing how social media has evolved from local chatter to global collaboration.”

As CEOs of global tech firms engage directly with each other and the public, one thing is clear—the future of leadership might just be a conversation away.
