Google announced Gemini 2.5, its ‘most intelligent AI model

Google has declared that all users of the Gemini app would be able to access its most recent 2.5 Pro (experimental) variant. Google claims that the Gemini 2.5 Pro model, which was released on Tuesday, March 25, is their “most intelligent AI model,” incorporating sophisticated reasoning skills. Although it is still in its “experimental” stage, it supports a number of capabilities, such as Canvas, file uploads, and apps/Extensions.

“Gemini 2.5 Pro is taking off The team is sprinting, TPUs are running hot, and we want to get our most intelligent model into more people’s hands asap,” Google said in a post on X.

“Which is why we decided to roll out Gemini 2.5 Pro (experimental) to all Gemini users, beginning today,” it added, saying users can try the latest model at no cost.

As part of the Google One AI Premium subscription, which costs Rs 1,950 per month in India, Gemini 2.5 Pro was previously only accessible to Gemini Advanced users.

The deployment is already in progress on gemini.google.com and will soon be accessible on the iOS and Android applications, which recently enhanced their memory for user-selected models, according to a report by 9to5google.

Google Gemini 2.5 AI model: What’s new

As an experimental version of Gemini 2.5 Pro, Google first released Gemini 2.5. According to Google, it has achieved state-of-the-art performance across many benchmarks and taken the top place on the LMArena scoreboard, a platform that gauges human preference for AI model replies.

Officials at the company refer to the new Gemini 2.5 models as “thinking models,” highlighting their improved capacity to reason through challenging issues before coming up with a solution. According to Google, this strategy improves accuracy and performance.

“Our first 2.5 model, Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental is a state-of-the-art thinking model, leading in a wide range of benchmarks – with impressive improvements in enhanced reasoning and coding and now #1 on @lmarena_ai by a significant margin. With a model this intelligent, we wanted to get it to people as quickly as possible,” Google CEO Sundar Pichai said in a post on X.

“Find it on Google AI Studio and in the @geminiapp for Gemini Advanced users now – and in Vertex in the coming weeks. This is the start of a new era of thinking models – and we can’t wait to see where things go from here,” he added.

According to the business, Gemini 2.5’s performance improvements are the result of both enhanced post-training procedures and a much better base model. Google intends to immediately include these “thinking” capabilities into every model it produces in the future.
